July 01 random as it is…- how old are you
i've been briefly exposed to places where cultures mix. the twist of this mixture offers me a great opportunity to think about the differences. at first i compare different things, as a result, i see the "bad" part of various stuff. bad here refers only to the nuances that is not in line with my own mind set, which is nurtured by the environment i grew up in. it is hard for me to identify with another cultural set, thus it is not likely that i can grab the beauty of those around. then i come across the word, or phenomenon, confirmation bias. it describes how we tend to process new information. anything we see, we most likely would assign it with our own opinion. for related new information, we tend to accept those back our thoughts, and ignore the ones that are against them. so the more we see, the more we try to gather information to prove our correctness, till we are convinced, even if it was wrong at the first place. then i know when i stop making these stupid comparisons, i get to learn to appreciate all that i see. and that makes happy :) __________________ more pics from the trip new york city!
